  1. Pleased with my choice

Posted by Russell on 7th Aug 2019

After much research and concluding that the best WS on the market was the Davis Advantage for quality of build and accuracy, but the high price was off putting. I then decided on the Aercus as the best mid priced (China built) model and was pleasantly surprised at what I received.

Relatively easy to assemble and set up, with the only issue (so far) was that the instructions didn't allow for the fact that when setting up the time you were left guessing that the timezone would be +12 which wasn't mentioned.

So far it is working well, although I reset the display to read Wind Gusts instead of Average to be more informative and also set the Rain Gauge to read over 24 hours rather than 1 hour (my preference only).

I also noted that the web page for the WS3083 showed that it comes with a free 29 page ebook, which wasn't supplied. [We have contacted you with the download link for the eBook - sorry if you did not get it with your purchase]

  2. Good Value Weather Station

Posted by Graham on 3rd May 2019

This is my second purchase of one of these instruments. The first served me well for about 5 years before bits started to wear enough to warrant replacement. Have now moved to a new location and got a whole new setup for the new spot.

  3. Weather Station

Posted by Rienie on 23rd Jan 2018

Brilliant product, had one for 6 years and it performed flawlessly, until I decided to give it a clean. Unfortunately I got water in areas that water shouldn't be. Replaced the transmitter, a good feature that you can buy spares, but still had issues. So bought another one and vow not to use a hose to clean it. Service is brilliant and so is the product

  4. Happy Weatherman- birthday present

Posted by Ian on 6th Jan 2018

I purchased this weather station on line and firstly was most impressed with the quick service and receipt of the station.
It was reasonably easy to assemble and install for a "new comer". I have not connected the computer history yet, but assume this will work as per description.

  5. Bought this for my husband's birthday

Posted by Patricia Lacey on 30th May 2017

Bought this for my husband's birthday. He loves it. My husband decided to install it on the day of his birthday and all the children and grandchildren helped. All seems to be working well so far.

  6. Brilliant

    Posted by J. W. Sinclair on 19th Apr 2017

My wife bought me this station for my birthday. I am delighted with it. It has been collecting data now for just short of 3 weeks and gives a fascinating insight into the "local" weather in my garden. Easy to set up and extremly accurate, i would recomend this to anyone with an interest in the weather.

  7. Weather Station

Bought this to replace an old system which recently failed, A big improvement, and the software is a big advantage.

  8. Excellent weather station

Posted by Lauren Kennedy on 21st Aug 2016

Great value for money, a top weather station. The Aercus Instruments WS3083 is my second station, I also have a Technoline WS2350 (also known as a La Crosse WS2350). I bought the WS3083 because I wanted the addition of the UV/Light sensors which is hard to find. The WS3083 ticks all the boxes and is an impressive piece of kit for the price. It's every bit as good as the Technlone plus it has UV/light and a bigger data logger. Here's some tips:

The wind direction sensor has a small `N' `S' `E' `W', on the base so make sure you line those up with North, South, East West otherwise you will introduce an error into your wind direction readings.

The best batteries to use are good quality Lithium batteries. Alkaline are good too as long as it doesn't get too cold. Rechargeable batteries cause lots of problems as they are only 1.2V so avoid those unless you want signal fade.

The WS3083 has quite long cables for the sensors to allow you to mount the wind and rain gauges separately (wind sensors like unobstructed wind and rain sensors work best sheltered from the wind and lower to the ground). An ideal setup would be the transmitter sited under an eave, the wind sensors on the roof, and the rain gauge sheltered from the wind but not obstructing any rain. The reality though is that a lot of stations get mounted on roofs or corner fence posts which is often the best compromise and works fine for most users (including me).

I highly recommend you connect up to Weather Underground so you can see your weather station readings on your smartphone or tablet.

You can't beat the WS3083 for functionality and price, an excellent station.
